Ok, I'll see you then.

[His voice comes in a forced calm.]
Hisao? I know we have dinner plans, but you are not obligated to... [He leaves out a key element to all this purposely.]
Do you still want to?

[Oh... the poor thing. Karu knows he doesn't deserve brash anger. He really does mean well, doesn't he? Always going out of his way to help someone even when he has no strength to do so...
But just as Hisao means well, so does Karu. This is why the blonde boy wants to face this. Doing it over a network is too easy to weasel out of. He sure as hell knew he'd try to squidge out of a firm talk if he could.]
Yes. I have tofu and fish on hand and fresh apples. I had apple desserts but had to hand them out after Utgard... [Lest they go bad. He really hadn't expected that trip to come up in the middle of his mad bake session.]
Whenever you can get here is fine.

Mm? Pickled... radishes...? I have never... I have never heard of such a thing. [Hisao cannot see it, but his head is tilted. He knows what pickling is, but on a raddish? Hmm...]
Ah, you can bring one and I can try it. [Karu, Hisao will probably bring more than a single raddish...] Do you know which house number it is?

We have rice here already. Is brown okay? [He's heard about sushi rice and these crazy onigiri things, but he hasn't had the experience of eating them here yet...]
Ah, I must have been out. If a tall, blustery man answers, it's just Shou. Tell him you're here for the dinner and he'll be fine! [... Hopefully. He'll go have a talk with Shou right now while it's on his mind.]

[A few days after the unpleasant run in with Samantha's bloodthirsty side, Merlin remembers to make a phone call.]
Hisao, right? Are you...all right?

[He waits a while before answering, though the footsteps of someone in the background can be heard.]
Just... be gentle to Shou. [Not that Hisao wasn't generally a gentle guy, but... if there's going to be a conflict, Karu doesn't want it to be because Shou thought Hisao looked at him funny.
There are more important things! And also... dinner.]
That's fine, it will give me time to bathe the puppies... Coco smells like fermented mudcake right now. [What does that even mean?]

[She saw his post on Roxy's inquiry, but she wants to check in. For all that she helped the healers, she didn't have much time to talk with them.]
You doing ok, Hisao?
You doing ok, Hisao?
Doing something I'd never really bothered to do before. Contemplating my mortality. But, I bet a lot of people are, so I'm in good company there. Get as much rest as you can. You don't need to make yourself collapse.
One person isn't going to save the world here.

Some of them are masochists. They probably appreciate the feeling that they're giving of themselves. And don't worry about it. It's not a bad thing to think about... just new to me.
Think I'm going to track down Eridan later.

Little fin-face was doing just fine a couple days ago when I saw him. I think I've seen him lurking in the shadows around the arena like a creepy bastard. It's almost painful to watch sometimes. [She snorts out a laugh.]
And it's not entirely bad to be wired like that. A lot of people think that's a good thing, and I'm not one to judge.

You're an advanced healer. That alone makes you prized with them. They need all the advanced healers they can get. With the help of a few lenders or transfers, you guys can actually do a lot of good, though I'll bet you'll feel exhausted soon enough if not already.
Good. Don't take any of my stamina boosters. I'm not sure if that stuff will overclock your heart, alright? It's magic, and the types of stamina we have is more magical energy... but I don't like the risk.
