It actually makes some sense when you think about it. We're hand-picked by the Gods for certain qualities, and bonds and emotions are what's bringing this place back to life. So, dumb people like me who refuse to drop friendships are probably more valuable than the clever ones who are like 'Oh, no, that's OK - I think I'll avoid you from here on in if it's all the same to you'. Right? Makes sense.
[He's typing it with a little tongue in cheek humor, hoping that comes across.]
Give me some time to get back into gear. I'm feeling a little less than inclined to do anything more dangerous than make food and read right now. I'll be back in the swing of things soon enough and we can try setting up a time then at your convenience.
I think they need all kinds, really. However, I get the idea. Just like they need people like me who spawn what I'll politely call mixed reactions, they need the sort who forgive like you.
How about you give me a call once you're doing better, and we can do that? If Hanako's worried, just let her know I'm going to try and be extra careful these days.
Hanako might take a lot of convincing. I already know she's going to be really mad at me. She might not even want to hear what I have to say about it by this point.
Beleive me, if there's something I have no shortage of, it's patience. Especially where Hanako is concerned. I'm more worried about the reverse, if anything. She made me promise not to hide anything from her and so I won't. But I don't think she's going to take this well and if there's one thing I know she can do better than almost anything, it's cut herself off from things that upset her. I just never wanted to be one of those things.
Don't go losing a good friend over me, Hisao. It's nice of you to try, but don't let this be that much of an issue. I... don't deserve that, whether or not I'm trying.
That's not fair, though! This is something you can't help. It's not right to persist to the point where we become friends and then drop you when things get difficult. I hate the sort of people who can do that to someone and I'll never be one.
Then we're just going to have to make it clear to Hanako that the right steps are being taken to protect you in the process, aren't we? [She gave a resigned sigh. He was as bad as Ritsu in some ways.]
It's a good plan, Hisao. Go with it. I do mostly the same thing when the crap hits the fan. And, regardless of what happens, I'll do what I can to help... It's the least I can do.

That's the hypothesis, at least.
And thanks for taking care of that for me. I really do appreciate it.
